Short Biography: 

Márcia Lima is a professor at the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences at the University of São Paulo (FFLCH-USP) where she coordinates the Postgraduate Program in Sociology.

She is a senior researcher associated with the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP). She has a degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1992), a master's degree in Sociology from the Instituto Universitário de Pesquisas do Rio de Janeiro-IUPERJ (1994) and a doctorate in Sociology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2001). She held a Post-Doctorate at the University of Columbia (2011-2012) and was a visiting fellow at the Hutchins Center for African and African American Studies at Harvard University (2016-2017). She is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Brazilian Studies Association, 2017-2019.

Its research themes are: racial inequalities and race relations, with an emphasis on gender and race, education, labor market, affirmative action policies.
