Research Group Digital Sociology and Artificial Intelligence

Coordinators: Leopoldo Waizbort and Veridiana Domingos Cordeiro

The Research Group "Digital Sociology and Artificial Intelligence" has been active since July 2019 by bringing together researchers of the University of São Paulo (Brazil) interested in the study related to digital phenomena in contemporary societies. The group is registered in the national directory of CNPq (National Council for Technological and Scientific Development). As a group, we have been discussing studies regarding the social transformations put forth by the digitization of the world. The "digital" is not an isolated realm anymore, rather a crosswise phenomenon intermingled with many other phenomena of social life. In this regard, although we share common topics on digital and artificial intelligence, we are in touch with different subfields of research where both phenomena manifest, such as public policy, violence, culture, and science.

Based on papers and books debates, we offer courses on Digital Sociology and Artificial Intelligence in order to bring about reflections on these topics within Sociology.
